• This is an alternate source of this show. This one doesn't have the encores, but it has a complete EWS and Ice Cream Man. If you put the two sources together (this one and "Mean Streets of Chicago") you get a complete show.
• The tape sounded decent, wasn't too genned. This source is more distant and quasi-reminiscent of "Home Ground" in terms of the spacious, distant sound. The other source is very upfront without a lot of ambience. The tape had a high-pitched hiss which is why Dolby C noise reduction was applied right on the deck. Speed correction was also applied right on the deck, a half step down as it ran too fast. All the highs are still there however, and if you turn it up loud enough you can still hear the high-pitched hiss a little bit.
• Editing was minimal; EWS was spliced together from both sides of the tape. Unfortunately, side 2 of the tape wasn't as good quality as side one of the tape, so there's a dropoff around the 0:33 mark of EWS where the splice is.
• Because Disc 2 would only have been about 16 minutes, some bonus material has been thrown in to fill it out.
• Track 4 is a radio interview from a Chicago radio station, 7/29/80. There were studio songs played but they were mostly cut on the tape, and what was left of that was cut out here.
• Amsterdam 1981, track 5, is hilarious. DLR and the boys walk around town asking strangers if they've heard of Van Halen. No one recognizes them but for one person at the end who goes, "Wait, you're David Lee Roth!" This broadcast also has a couple of the Oakland 6/13/81 tracks in there which were left in.
• Tracks 6 and 7 are stuff that aren't widely circulated. Track 6 is a decent generation of EVH playing a couple of songs with the Pretenders at UCLA on 2/14/82. Track 7 is quite genned and is Ed playing with Allan Holdsworth at The Roxy in Los Angeles on 4/23/82. Nevertheless, it's a nice thing to have for historical purposes.
