• Equipment: Panasonic RQ-346A cassette recorder with external mic from Radio Shack
• Lineage: tape 1: BASF Pro II Chrome/tape 2: TDK D90 cass (M) > Optimus SCT-57 playback deck > plugun enhanced Adobe Audition 1.5 (recording at 24/96, speed correction, NR, EQ, click filtering to tone down the distortion, stereo spatialization, track splitting) > Xrecode II (conversion to flac)

• The cassette tapes had seen better days. A few wrinkles near the beginning of side 1, and the pad under the tape had fallen out. Some "surgery" had to be done in order to get this transfer. Not a bad recording considering the equipment. Slightly distorted, but reasonably clear, and all the frequencies were there. A little EQ to clear up the fidelity loss from the aging of less than top quality cassettes and some processing to make it seem a bit more stereo and here you have it. Since the tape was in mono anyway, and since the right channel was less than half the volume of the left (introducing more noise) the right channel was eliminated and the left was substituted before the stereo spatialization step.
• The tape change while recording was a little slow, so part of "Pretty Woman" was missed.
• These are just the raw audio files. The taper has left it up to the individual on whether to burn this to a Video DVD, a DVD-Audio disc, convert it to 16bit/44.1KHz (for CD burning) or just leave the files as-is.
